Facilities(Sharron Robbins):

  • Maintenance is being completed in all of the buildings: Things like: Shower leak in MO; Gap in C-Hall; Heating and cooling in MO
  • BNB washer and dryers: Trying to figure out a way to get an online system to add money to the cards and find the same readers we have around campus because we can’t find them anymore. Trying to push for card usage rather than quarters
  • Big things will be done over Spring Break. Water heater installations in BNB CC and HD apts. Heating and cooling in BNB
  • Dobson will soon have wardrobes coming!!! Contract to be signed 2-12-09
  • Big Deal Part:
There have been some acts of vandalism that are reoccurring. All of these are quite costly for instance: MO Hall couch that was broken in like four places (definitely not wear and tear) needs to be replaced, Ryle elevator buttons being shorted out, and the big one- C-Hall elevator. People keep shorting it out causing either themselves or the next person to be trapped. This cost $1300 each time. Already has happened multiple times in the past few months. Huge problem for the budget.

Old Business

  • Student Senate Resolution:
    Sean: Sunday at the meeting.
Issac: Two amendments proposed by RHA were not passed. Resolution passed as is.
Sharon: We need to maintain a good relationship with Reslife and I don’t think we should pass the resolution with those two lines in there.
Isaac: That was voiced on Sunday because as student senate we can pass a resolution of things that we want to happen and it is just an opinion asking reslife to consider.
Chris: What is the purpose of the two lines? But what if when we look into it and we find something that does not concern reslife.
Tom:We cannot order anyone to do anything. This just says that we are defining what should be done. We are not situated to directly address this problem. We are not backing you into a corner on this issue. We merely identified you as an actor.
Emily: When is reslife going to be presented with this since reslife has not been given the resolution from senate?
    Tom: This takes time.
Jimmy: There is an issue but we work together positively and this is not a positive resolution passed through residence life. The facts and figures of residence life do not support the “numerous” people.
Sharon: Thanks for bringing this to us. We like to make resolutions with figures and with the facts.
Curtis: Would it be possible to distribute a student body wide survey to clarify how widespread this issue is?
Chris: We need to remember that this is passed already. How do you want to collaborate with us?
Isaac: Joellen is willing to do whatever needs to be done in any way in a committee.
Tom: I would suggest that you track down these numbers that you say differ from ours. Besides a formal committee no we do not have any other ideas. Really appreciate the dialogue for today.
Nick: The committee should include all four of the bodies listed in the resolution to be the most beneficial.
Tom: I do not feel like I should have to be warned about the conduct of the group.
Katherine motions to censure, seconded. Motion passes
Katherine moves to refer to resident affairs committee, Ryan Brinkman seconds. Motion passes.
  • T-shirts: in contact with print x

New Business

  • Exec board discussed that 8:45 was a sufficient time to leave without being stricken from attendance.
  • Facilities meeting: this is not an issue quite yet!! Basically there have been acts of vandalism. Couch in MO hall broken in 4 places. The elevator buttons are being melted- $1300 every time the company has to come to fix this. Chall-elevator is shorting out and trapping people in it. Budget and safety issue. Idea on the table- charge the community-deter people from doing it based on peer pressure. Want our opinion on this. Starting from when the policy was put into place.
Ryan: Would it be evenly divided? –not really discussed.
Teresa: effective but including money might not be good.
Ryan motions to table seconded. Motion passes.
