    Julie Knoblauch nominated James Mehagan
    Kim Slattery seconded.
    James accepted.
    Nominations closed
  • Facilities Committee Representative meetings held second Wednesday of every month at 9AM in an as-of-yet unknown location. Kendall Smith II approved as representative.

New Business

  • Constitutional revisions
    Statement of Dissolutionment
    Special Circumstance Amendments
Kim Slattery moved to table. Others seconded.
  • Move-In 2009-2010
First day of classes will be Thursday next year
Freshmen will move in on Saturday
    Mid-week move-in : T/W, T, or W?
    Kendall suggested 2-day move-in window.
Sharon: working parents? Also, weekend with freshman move-in, don't have upperclassmen move in same day to lessen confusion
Kendall: have people help everyone (freshman and upperclassmen) move in
Matt: price difference for weekend move-in?
Emily: possibly $200-$500, not yet sure
    Jared suggested 2-day move-in window.
NOBODY WANTS ONE-DAY MOVE-IN. (The boldface is for Emily.)
    Sharon: Sunday/Monday possible?
Question: why are classes starting this early?
Week-long Thanksgiving break, help get rid of lull in Truman Week Move-in has to be two consecutive days.
Chris: Truman Week will be ruined if freshman and upperclassmen move-in days are the same; it helps with community to give freshman time alone
Jared: Agrees with Chris, but suggests mid-Truman Week for upperclassmen move-in to integrate upperclassmen into so-far freshmen community
However, drinking will be a problem if upperclassmen move in too early.
How many people had parents help with move-in sophomore, junior, senior years?
    About 13, or about 1/3.
Kendall: Parents plan ahead to help, ask off work.
Chris: Some parents can't do that.
Tiffany: For out-of-state students, move-in takes two days.
    Move-In Day Preferences for Upperclassmen:
    • Sat/Sun: 2
    • Sun/Mon: 14 or 15
    • Tues/Wed: 13, 14, or 15
  • Campus Safety Committee meetings are Tuesdays from 2-3PM, and next is Oct. 14; should have RHA representation; Phil will be leaving at semester; Chris is interested.
  • Halloween  on Friday? 6-8?
    Jared: probably okay
Chris: if we don't do it on Friday, we'll probably get a good showing regardless
Phil: SHOULD BE on Halloween, we could shorten it
Kim S.: Knows from experience that having trick-or-treating on a day that is not Halloween is really weird and thinks it should be on Halloween.
